POSITION: CTHCA Facilities Engineer Technician
SALARY: $21.35 hr. - $26.00 hr.
REPORTS TO: Omak Facilities Manager
LOCATION: Omak Health Clinic - Omak, WA
SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of routine building maintenance tasks; carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing, and general cleaning. The Facilities Engineering Technician provides semi-skilled services to the Facilities staff that includes but is not limited to, participating in minor repairs, inspections and maintenance of the Government facility. Advancement to this position is based on need and meeting the required qualifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with inspection of buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre established check sheet.
- Assists with minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Assists with minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
- Assists with minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
- Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
- Lawn care maintenance; mowing, trimming, weeding.
- Snow removal; shoveling sidewalks, parking lots and building.
- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, parking lots, and other work areas.
- Order parts and maintain required documents.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Requires a HS diploma and 5 years’ work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Require eligibility for tribal insurance coverage.
- Requires a background clearance and required to maintain clearance throughout employment.
- Requires a working knowledge of tools, materials, processes, and techniques of routine maintenance
- Requires sufficient language, reading and writing skill to record readings, interpret maps and blueprints, and prepare activity reports.
- Requires sufficient math skills to record numbers, compute sums, percentages, and ratios.
- Requires sufficient human relations skill to exercise strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with customers and convey policies and procedures.
- Requires customer service oriented skills.
- Requires the ability to carry out the essential responsibilities of the position.
- Requires the ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Requires ability to work independently and manage workload to meet deadlines.
- Requires ability to recognize discrepancies and determine effective actions.
- Requires the ability to operate hand and power tools, riding lawn mower, fork lift, mini snowplow, side by side and repair tools.
- Requires the ability to work outdoors with varying work schedules and weather conditions.
- Requires ability to understand and follow directions.
- Requires ability to meet or exceed the Tribes attendance and punctuality standards.
- Requires the ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently.
- Requires the ability to use miscellaneous office equipment (e.g. calculators, typewriters, computers, FAX machines, copiers, etc.).
- Requires the ability to work as contributing member of a team, work productively and cooperatively with other teams and external customers, and convey a positive image of the Tribal government.
- Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors where moderate safety considerations exist from physical labor, use of power equipment, temperature, noise extremes, exposure to vibration, electricity and mechanical moving parts.
- This position is identified as a Safety Sensitive position and subject to pre employment, post accident, random and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
- Requires extensive background clearance and must maintain clearance throughout employment.
- Tribal member and Indian preference will apply.
- Preference will also be given to honorably discharged Veterans who are minimally qualified.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, stand for long periods of time, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis
- Requires sufficient hand eye coordination, manual and finger dexterity to complete duties
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach
- Ability to push, pull frequently, and guiding over 50 pounds on an infrequent basis.
- Require ability to push minimum 100 pounds (power cleaning appliances).
- Requires ability to climb ladder and step ladder.
- Requires the ability to stoop, kneel, lay horizontal, and crouch to place and move work objects.
- Requires the ability to perform full arm extension and movement out and overhead.
- Ability to comprehend complex issues
- Sufficient visual acuity to write, recognize printed materials, computer screen, and notice non-verbal behavior
- ability to grasp, and visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical and safety information.
- Requires ability to work flexible hours.
- Speech and hearing ability to project voice to small and large audiences, carry on telephone conversations, hear and grasp verbal communications and equipment prompts
- Ability to drive in adverse weather conditions
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
