Job Description

Job Summary: Provides direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory care setting. Provides care that meets the psycho-social, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a clinical care manager. Maintains regulatory requirements, nursing and ambulatory care policies, procedures and standards.


Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

  • Provides direct patient care under supervision, evaluates outcomes, consults with other healthcare team members as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment, under supervision, on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to team leader, coworkers and providers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist providers with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of lab requirements and requisitions.
  • Maintain accurate counts of all medication dispensed through proper documentation.
  • Triage medical calls and troubleshoots problems as they occur.
  • Ensures all medical equipment is properly maintained and maintenance is documented.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.


Regulatory Requirements:
  • Current LPN licensure in the State of Louisiana in good standing
  • Current BLS certification
Language Skills:
  • Able to communicate effectively in English required; bilingual preferred
Other Skills:
  • Basic computer knowledge required
  • EMR experience highly desired
