Summer Activity Camp Administrator (Meadowbrook Community Center)
The Associated Recreation Council, in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is seeking individuals who are passionate about supporting their communities while making a fun and positive impact on youth ages 11–14.
The MBCC Middle School Camp is designed to give youth more independence than traditional childcare, while still providing the structure and guidance they need. We’re looking for someone who can inspire participants to step away from their phones, engage with one another, and help co-create engaging camp activities.
Location
- Meadowbrook Community Center
Pay Range: $27.00-$29.98 hourly DOE/non-exempt; seasonal summer position only
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, with the following shift:
- Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., 45 min lunch break
- In program from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
- Hire by date: June 5th, 2026
- Program dates: June 22 - August 25, 2026 (Summer camps run from 6/22 – 8/25)
- The schedule is subject to change based upon programming needs and requirements.
Summer Activity Camp Administrator responsibilities:
Leadership
- Camp director should be comfortable designing and delivering Activity Camp style curriculum
- Address behavior via positive reinforcement
- Providing leadership in emergency situations in accordance with guidance/policy
- Use critical thinking to problem-solve and plan to minimize risk
Operational and Administrative
- Ensuring all safety protocols are being followed and enforced by staff and participants
- Managing and organizing paperwork and contact information for all participants
- Set-up, take down and cleaning of space daily
- Completing reporting procedures
- Coordinate lunch break with the Recreation Center Coordinator
- If you need to call out contact Meadowbrook Staff immediately
- Supporting monitoring of camp budget
- Shopping for camp supplies and managing equipment
- Attend all required meetings and training sessions
- Proficiency with Windows based operating system and Microsoft Office Suite
Supervision, Care & Custody
- Maintain a safe, friendly, and fun environment for all families, participants and staff
- Able to supervise up to 10 participants at a time, on your own.
- Conduct regular head counts and roll calls
- Ensure environments are well-maintained, developmentally appropriate and supports the needs of the program and its participants
- Provide positive transitions that maintain head counts to minimize the risk of unwanted behaviors
- Complete required accident/incident forms if participants or instructors are injured.
Relationship Building
- Collaborating with site Parks staff to meet camp goals
- Communicating professionally with parents, staff and partners via phone, in person and email
- Maintaining strong positive working relationships with various partners including Seattle Parks and community partnerships
Summer Activity Camp Administrator minimum qualification:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have at least 2+ years of experience working in youth-related programs
- Must have demonstrated working experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
Additional Preferred Requirements
- Have prior supervisory and/or mentorship experience
- Preference given to candidates who can work the full camp season
