Key Accountability Areas
Project Launch and Initial Preparation
- Attend project launch meetings and review mechanical scope, requirements, and constraints
- Prepare job files in accordance with departmental procedures
- Review contractual, technical, and specification documents related to mechanical design
Mechanical Design and Development
- Develop mechanical designs including enclosures, sheet metal parts, assemblies, and supporting structures
- Perform design calculations related to strength, material selection, and thermal considerations where applicable
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, standards, and manufacturing requirements
CAD Modelling and Drawing Preparation
- Create 2D drawings and 3D models using approved design software
- Prepare fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed part drawings
- Apply standard drawing practices including dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications
Drawing Review and Verification
- Review and verify mechanical drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability
- Ensure all design requirements and constraints are reflected in final drawings
- Prepare and verify Bills of Materials (BOMs) aligned with design outputs and project requirements
Production Coordination
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure designs are feasible for fabrication and assembly
- Support production planning by releasing drawings and material requirements in line with schedules
- Ensure alignment between BOMs, drawings, and production requirements
Technical Support
- Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and testing stages
- Support resolution of design-related issues by reviewing and updating designs where required
- Coordinate with quality teams to ensure compliance with design specifications
