Job Summary:

A Senior Manager of IT Engineering for Supply Chain Transportation leads the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions that optimize logistics, freight movement, and last-mile delivery operations. This role is responsible for the engineering strategy and delivery of transportation capabilities, ensuring scalable, cost-effective, and real-time execution across the distribution network. The role bridges engineering teams and business stakeholders to enhance transportation planning, execution, and final-mile service performance.

Location & Work Availability:

This position is Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote), based at our corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina.

What will you do?

  • Define and execute the technology roadmap for transportation platforms in alignment with enterprise supply chain strategy
  • Lead design, configuration, and enhancement of transportation systems including planning, optimization, execution, and settlement capabilities
  • Oversee integration for last-mile orchestration, real-time dispatching, and carrier network connectivity
  • Drive end-to-end transportation capabilities including carrier planning, routing, and load optimization, freight execution, tracking, and exception management
  • Last-mile delivery orchestration, real-time visibility, and proof-of-delivery
  • Lead modernization initiatives including API-first integrations, microservices, and event-driven architecture to connect TMS, OneRail, WMS, and ERP systems
  • Partner with supply chain, store operations, and logistics teams to improve delivery speed, service levels, and transportation cost efficiency
  • Oversee Agile delivery, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines for continuous platform enhancement
  • Ensure system performance, scalability, availability, and resiliency across transportation platforms
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team
  • Manage vendor relationships, system integrators, and third-party carriers
  • Enable real-time data and analytics for transportation KPIs including on-time delivery, cost per mile, and route efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security standards, and integration governance

Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in TMS (Blue Yonder preferred) implementation, configuration, and support
  • Experience integrating and supporting last-mile delivery platforms
  • Deep understanding of transportation management processes including planning, optimization, execution, and settlement
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams delivering complex supply chain platforms
  • Strong experience with APIs, system integrations, and event-driven architecture
  • Experience with Agile delivery, DevOps, and CI/CD practices
  • Excellent ability to partner with supply chain and operations stakeholders

Certifications, Experience, and Education:

  • 10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in leadership roles
  • Hands-on experience delivering transportation implementations or enhancements
  • Experience integrating last-mile delivery platforms (OneRail preferred) into enterprise ecosystems
  • Experience in retail, distribution, or high-volume logistics environments
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms, API management, and real-time data integration
