Summary:
This position ensures and implements all water safety policies and procedures. Supervise members and guests in and around the lake and swimming areas.
Job Description
• Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
• Administers care to swimmers’ minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises.
• Enforces rules of conduct at the beach and lake.
• Checks first aid supplies and reports needed items.
• Organizes and monitors pool games at all times; suggests pool-side games.
• Places rescue tube and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning; returns these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard closet when the beach closes.
• Straightens the beach and cabana areas at the end of the day.
• Maintains all necessary records determined by the Security Manager.
• Attends all meetings as directed by the Security Manager.
• Implements all water safety equipment.
• Performs required beach pre-opening duties.
• Informs security manager about unresolved member or guest disruptions that could cause a safety problem.
• Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Security Manager.
Qualifications, Education, and Preferred Skills
• Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate.
• American Red Cross Basic First Aid required, training on AED units and possession of a current Red Cross CPR card.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States. Physical Demands and Environment
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach, walk, stand, stoop, climb stairs, balance and/or crouch.
• Continuous repetitive motions.
• Physical exertion over long periods of time.
• Work in hot and humid environment.
• Push, pull and lift 50 pounds.
• Working conditions are often, hot, humid slippery and wet.
• Able to work in a busy, noisy environment.
Hours and Attendance
• Varied and flexible shifts/days, likely to include nights, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime.
• Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
