Job Description
Purpose
- As a Lead Cost Estimator, you are accountable to deliver in due time, the most accurate cost estimate for a defined scope.
- You will ensure to give the best cost view for a given system, which will allow the most accurate and efficient financial tracking during the project execution phase.
- You also contribute to higher level perspective both on bids and team organisation (coordinating/supervising other estimators at bid or team level, making strategic decisions, continuous improvement for process and tools ...)
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyse cost and associated technical data on previous projects for both gaining knowledge and having benchmarking reference
- Maintain up-to-date databases
- Acquire good knowledge on products and project execution
- Master and apply estimating techniques as well as governance
- Identify or support tools and methods improvement for enhanced quality of estimates, benchmarking and reporting
- Deliver estimates in timely manner with best accuracy (depending conditions and inputs provided)
- Provide quality analysis and reporting to Commercial and Management team
- Ensure transparency and traceability of costs and associated assumptions
- Liaise, understand and challenge project team and various disciplines (engineering, supply chain, construction...)
- Able to identify and use the most adequate estimating method to reach the goal within time available (including shortcuts, prioritization, using input or benchmark in educated way...)
- Coordinate, supervise, coach other estimators
Manage ressources in-line with requirements and needs
Manage high level stakeholders and be in direct interface with Sales, Client, Top management - Stand for their view and adopt strong position: challenge/question requests and expectations in given context and based on current capabilities; contribute to strategic decisions on specific bids or team organization
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Finance
Experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in cost estimating, with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Proficient in Excel
