Senior Quality Engineer
Job Duties
- Analyze processes to identify improvements in efficiency, cost reduction, safety, and risk mitigation.
- Develop and maintain quality standards, metrics, testing, and data collection systems; support process capability and documentation review.
- Monitor quality trends and lead defect reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure quality compliance during product development, supplier integration, and manufacturing processes.
- Investigate production issues, warranty concerns, and failures; implement corrective and preventive actions and solutions.
- Support supplier audits, nonconformance reviews, training, reporting, and continuous development of quality systems and personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
- This position requires a four-year college degree plus 8-15 years’ experience.
- Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
- Minimal travel outside of the campus area.
- Occasional overnight stays (less than 10%)
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ (or equivalent) Certified Quality Engineer certification highly desired.
- Excellent computer literacy, word processing skills (MS Word) and spreadsheet skills (MS Excel)
- Certain technical skills and training, such as quality tools and techniques, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC)
- Good problem-solving skills are also required, including 5Y’s and basic 6 Sigma tools. The incumbent should have good communication skills, the ability to work effectively with people and the personal drive/sense of urgency necessary to provide needed support in the time frames demanded.
