About Lihir

Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Purpose

The FE Maintenance Advisor is the senior technical authority. responsible for overseeing the entire work management process to ensure maintenance activities are prioritised, planned, scheduled, and executed to the highest standard. This role provides leadership to Technical Advisors & Supervisors governs the quality of work management data, and ensures maintenance strategies, materials readiness, and schedule commitments are met. The Advisor drives continuous improvement through analysis of performance trends, BI insights, and equipment reliability indicators. Acting as a key support to the Maintenance Superintendent—this position plays a vital part in ensuring operational continuity, technical excellence, and long term equipment health.

Essential Duties
  • Senior technical and work-management authority
  • End to end work management & technical governance.
  • Workflow (identify → plan → schedule → execute → analyse), prioritisation, plan approval, schedule sequencing, data oversight.
  • Defines strategic maintenance tasks (PMs, inspections).
  • Reviews and endorses plans.
  • Verifies priority, materials, labour, tooling, permits, and planning accuracy.
  • Ensures schedule is technically achievable.
  • Verifies resource leveling, materials, equipment availability, and timelines.
  • QA/QC, escalation point for technical issues.
  • Validates complex work quality and procedural compliance.
  • Reviews completion quality.
  • Ensures follow ups and corrective tasks are raised properly.
  • Owns KPI review, BI insights, strategy changes, and improvement plans.
  • Modifies strategic tasks based on performance.
  • Leads the Technical Advisors & Supervisors.
  • Supports and acts for the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Maintains technical and work management governance.
Training & Experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 to 10 years mining experience in a similar role within the mining industry
  • Experience with crushing conveyors, grinding mills and large slurry pumps
  • A personal commitment to safety
Working Conditions

This is a FIFO role on a 21/21 roster.
