NOTICE OF VACANCY EXTRA DUTY PROSITION FOR PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEE
 
POSITION TITLE:

  • Summer Early Head Start/Head Start Education Coordinator

 
JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Will work with Early Head Start Staff to plan/facilitate summer socializations.
  • Will work with Early Head Start families if needed.
  • Will provide extra activities, etc. to those with higher educational needs.
  • Will review Ages & Stages Developmental Questionnaires of incoming children.
  • Will be responsible for documenting in Baby STEPS and Preschool STEPS
  • Will participate in trainings relevant to job position.
  • Will assist staff with any needs associated with the education component. of their job.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At a minimum a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Early Childhood Education with a focus on birth to age five.
  • Preference will be given to someone who has experience as an Early Head Start/Head Start Education Coordinator.
  • Is knowledgeable of the ELRS system and knows how to interpret individual child data
  • Knowledge of the Baby STEPS and Preschool STEPS data tracking systems, and Ages & Stages.

 
EFFECTIVE DATE:

  • June 17, 2026, through August 14, 2026

 
SALARY

  • $30 per hour (not to exceed 130 hours for the summer)

  • In accordance with West Virginia Code §18A-2-7b, Monroe County Schools will be implementing the "Stay Put Rule." The WV Legislature has determined that frequent teacher changes—especially in elementary grades—are not in the best interest of students. As a result, the Legislature intends to minimize personnel transfers between professional positions within the 20 days preceding the start of the instructional term. However, the county board, based on the superintendent's recommendation, may approve filling a position during this period if it is deemed to serve the best interest of the students.
