
Substitute Career and Technical Adult Program Instructors (Cosmetology, Welding, Truck Driving) -- AS NEEDED
Job Description
This is a part time position that will work only on an as needed basis. Candidate must be energetic, able to teach all aspects adult career and technical programs. Must be a people person with lots of patience and ability to alter teaching techniques to match student's learning abilities.

Position Summary
The Substitute Adult Instructors provides training and instruction to prospective adults participating in the Boone County Schools Adult Career programs. The substitute instructor ensures training aligns with West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) and Boone County Schools standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide instructional support in adult education and career training programs including welding, cosmetology, truck driving, and other technical programs as assigned.
- Supervise students in classroom, laboratory, shop, and hands-on training environments to ensure safety and appropriate conduct.
- Follow lesson plans, instructional materials, and guidance provided by the regular instructor or program administrator.
- Assist students with assignments, demonstrations, and practical skill development within the scope of the substitute's qualifications and certifications.
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment and enforce all safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Monitor student attendance, participation, and behavior and report concerns to the program administrator.
- Operate and oversee use of classroom and shop equipment in accordance with safety standards and district policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, and administrators.
- Complete required reports, documentation, and substitute records as requested.
- Perform other duties related to adult education programs as assigned by the supervisor or director.
Additional Preferred Qualifications (if desired):
- Valid certification, license, or documented experience in the assigned career/technical field.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and adult learning practices.
- Ability to manage classroom and hands-on instructional environments effectively.
Qualifications
- 1. Certified to teach adult career in technical in an area that is offered through BCTC and BCS (Welding, Cosmetology, Truck Driving)
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
- Ability to climb, bend, reach, and perform pre-trip inspections.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to assist trainees with entering/exiting vehicles and performing safety procedures.
