LOCATION: Green Bank Elementary-Middle School
Salary:
$25.00 per hour.
All Summer School positions will be paid only on days Summer School is in session, pending adequate staffing and student enrollment. Paid holidays are not part of this contract.
Term of Employment:
June 29, 2026 - July 31, 2026 *includes one preparation/planning week plus 4 weeks of program
Daily Schedule: **Final times may vary slightly based on total enrollment / bus schedules
Staff -
PLANNING/PREPARATION WEEK: June 29, 2026 - July 3, 2026
July 6, 2026 - July 31, 2026: Maximum 5 hours daily (tentatively 7:30am - 12:30pm), Monday through Thursday; additional professional development and/or preparation time may be provided at the request of the Director
Students (July 6, 2026 - July 31, 2026) - 8:30am-12pm daily, Monday through Thursday
Certification:
Valid teaching certificate, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2; Professional Administrative Certificate Required, Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a; and successful completion of interview.
Assignment:
The Summer School Coordinator will work with summer school staff to plan and implement a program that provides the students of Pocahontas County with an experience that engages and accelerates student learning. The Summer School Coordinator will be a professional educator who functions as an agent of the county board and has responsibility for the supervision, management, and control of each assigned location of the summer school program. The Summer School Coordinator is responsible for general supervision of the summer school program including all activities involving students, teachers, and other school personnel. The immediate supervisor will be the Director of Elementary Education.
Duties:
- Assists with organizational tasks in preparation for the Pocahontas County summer school program including communication with parents, assigning staff and students to classrooms, creating schedules, and daily management of program
- Sets agenda and leads summer school staff planning meetings
- Responsible for ordering and distributing supplies
- Presents expectations to summer school staff and maintains professional working environment
- Addresses concerns of staff, students, parents, and student behavior
- Assists Food Director with creating meal schedules and procedures with food service staff
- Provide required documentation for the program to the WVDE
- Assists Transportation Director in responding to transportation needs
- Oversees accuracy of timesheets for summer school staff
- Responsible for students as they arrive at depart from summer school location
- Acquire/maintain all student contact information
- Acquire/maintain all attendance records and maintain a log of students
- Communicate with students, parents, and peers in an efficient manner
- Meet professional responsibilities and other duties, as needed, assigned by supervisor
- Maintain professional work habits and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct
- Foster a climate conducive to learning
- Assist with classroom coverage when unexpected absences occur.
