Provisioning Technician

Reporting To: Devin Harris

Compensation: $35,000 - $45,000 / year

Description

The Provisioning Technician is responsible for the end-to-end deployment, configuration, and security of client endpoint devices. This role ensures that all desktops, laptops, and mobile devices operate efficiently and securely within an MSP environment. A successful candidate will thrive in a high-volume setting, balancing technical precision with operational efficiency to meet strict deployment timelines.


Key Responsibilities

Endpoint Management & Deployment
  • Execute the full endpoint lifecycle, including provisioning, onboarding, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain a high-volume workflow, managing 7+ active device setups simultaneously to meet performance goals.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, OS, driver, and application issues during the staging process.
  • Performs endpoint imaging, rebuilds, and refreshes as required by client specifications.
Quality Control & Operations
  • Maintain a "Progress Report" for every device and secure Manager sign-off for Quality Control (QC) prior to shipping.
  • Validate the accuracy of the specific machine, assigned user, and shipping destination.
  • Ensure a premium "white glove" client experience by including pre-filled "Thank You" cards and professional packaging in every shipment.
  • Adhere to a strict efficiency goal of 2 hours or less for a full device setup.
Security & Compliance
  • Deploy and manage security tools including AV/EDR, disk encryption, and patch management.
  • Remediate vulnerabilities and ensure all endpoints comply with client security policies.
  • Assist in security incident responses related to endpoint hardware.
Tools, Systems & Documentation
  • Utilize RMM, MDM, and PSA tools (ConnectWise preferred) for device management and asset tracking.
  • Maintain accurate asset records and contribute to the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with Service Desk and Security teams to resolve escalated technical issues.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Required
  • 2–4 years of experience supporting Windows and/or macOS endpoints in an MSP or enterprise environment.
  • Expertise in Windows 10/11 and/or macOS administration.
  • Proficiency with endpoint security solutions and RMM/PSA tools.
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced hardware deployment environment.
Preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or similar MDM platforms.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure AD.
  • Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft).
