JOB TITLE/ASSIGNMENT |
Position: District Literacy Coach
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years teaching experience.
- Reading Endorsement COMPLETED and on certificate.
- Demonstrated reading expertise and teaching in the level of coaching considered for.
- Strong leadership and technology skills with successful experience in providing inservice training/professional development activities.
- Certification in areas of coaching such as Elementary, Primary, or Secondary (valid state certificate)
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the law and School Board find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goal
To provide coaching and other professional learning support that enables teachers to think reflectively about improving student learning and implementing various instructional programs and practices leading to improved outcomes for students.
Reports To
Director of Elementary or Secondary Principal & Teacher Training
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES |
- Provide leadership, supervision, and oversight for site-based project implementation.
- Plan and implement inservice/professional development training for ALL teachers in scientifically based reading instruction.
- Plan and implement inservice training for all teachers regarding data collection and analysis.
- Assist teachers in provision of appropriate intensive interventions instruction for struggling students, including those who are Limited English Proficient.
- Model lessons in individual classrooms, including lessons that provide differentiated instruction.
- Observe reading instruction and provide feedback to improve reading instruction.
- Assist teachers in collection and analysis of school data relevant to and in collaboration with Just Read Florida!
- Assist teachers in selecting, administering, and evaluating results of screening diagnostic and progress assessments.
- Facilitate teacher student groups regarding current reading research and effective reading instruction.
- Provide parents with detailed information regarding their children's reading achievement.
- Compile pre-program, mid-program, and post-program data for project evaluation.
- Monitor and evaluate program implementation at the school level. This includes fidelity of implementation of adopted District Curriculum and Initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate with building level and district level leadership to achieve common district goals.
- Willingness to support any school across the district in need of coaching support-includes Clewiston and Labelle.
- Implement district planning protocols to support grade level teams.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT |
Calendar Months: 11 Month
Salary Schedule: Administrative Support Pay Grade: Base
Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board.
This position is entirely dependent on grant funding. Employment is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding. In the event that grant funding is reduced or discontinued, this position may be affected, up to and including termination of employment.
EVALUATION |
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel.
