Todd Summer Nurse: 10 Days
Summer work is required to maintain accuracy, assure safety, and meet all required state mandates, both current and pending. Usual annual summer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
New entrants: Initiate, review and document the health records of incoming K students (so far 70) and other new entrants (so far 2, historically 25+ register over summer):

Summer work is required to maintain accuracy, assure safety, and meet all required state mandates, both current and pending. Usual annual summer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
New entrants: Initiate, review and document the health records of incoming K students (so far 70) and other new entrants (so far 2, historically 25+ register over summer):
- Immunization records. Most are not fully immunized at this time and will require boosters prior to September. All immunizations must be tracked, audited, referenced with NYSIIS data and entered into eSchool. 16+ immunizations per student.
- Physical exam reports. Tracked, audited, entered into eSchool and followed up with parent and/or HCP when necessary.
- Dental reports tracked and enter into eSchool.
- All K, 1st, 3rd and 5th grade Students madndated and 2nd/4th grades collected and recorded
- Contacting parents and healthcare providers who have still not submitted required immunization and physical exam reports prior to the first day of school.
- All updated Physicals : Tracked, collected, audited, entered into eSchool and followed up with parent and/or HCP when necessary.
Allergy/Anaphylaxis:
- Contact each parent to review necessary forms, updates, Medications and policies regarding allergies. Reassure parents that all safety protocols are in place.
- Collect FARE forms annually signed by HCP. Update ECP binder.
- Collect medication authorizations and emergency meds for each student.
- Enter all allergies and medication orders/renewals into eSchool.
- Disseminate all information to staff via email as needed to ensure safety from Day 1.
- Obtain standing orders from medical director before school starts.
- Place order for free EpiPens through Mylan
Medications:
- Contact parents/HCPs for prescription renewals for the new school year.
- Inventory medications.
- Collect and record all new medications.
- Enter all info into eSchool.
Medically Fragile Students
- Create, review and update Individual Health Plans and Medical Management Plans with input of parent and HCP.
- Meet with parents individually in person to collect information, develop plans, and reassure them about safety plans.
- Faculty/Staff Communication:
- Email reminders of policies and procedures related to the health and safety of our students.
- Communicate information re: specific student health/safety requirements on an as needed basis. ie: allergy lists and protocols, medical concerns/needs, medication policies as well as signs and symptoms to be aware of in the classroom, field trip procedures, KI procedures and opt out list, Diabetic Plans.
- Supplies: Receive and stock supplies ordered through EdData
- KI procedure: Preparation of updated KI procedures, supplies and opt-out lists.
Other:
- Creation of sub-nurse binder in case of emergency or unexpected or planned absences.
- Creation of evacuation and lockdown plan specific to school and student needs.
- Continuous tracking, follow up calls, data collection and recording, and communications to assure NYSED compliance as well as a safe and efficient school opening in September.
