4-H and After School Duties Identifies critical priority needs and issues, with the assistance of other staff, to be addressed through 4-H programs. Facilitates the planning of educational activities in an assigned area in conjunction with other staff and volunteers at Unity Community Center: Supervise youth, youth tasks and assist in behavior management during programs and homework time Ensure students are signed in accurately. Ensure the safety and security of the facility Greet all guests at the door Report facility issues to the Business Manager, Office Support Specialist, and County Director if unable to resolve the issue. Direct volunteer tasks and monitor volunteer behavior as needed Facilitate and assist in the academic support program and enrichment programs Assist in facility maintenance: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, garbage, bathrooms, dishes, sanitization as needed. Assist Educator in preparing lessons and activities for nightly programming slots as needed Assist Educator in the development of behavior intervention structures as needed Collaborate with colleagues to ensure coverage of youth in the library and adults at the entrance Communicate with parents on upcoming events, student behavior issues, etc. Track behavior, attendance, and late pick-up on tracking sheets, as needed. Provide constructive feedback to volunteers and program leaders for more effective leadership. Recruits Future Leaders 4-H Club leaders, act as a liaison between club and afterschool program Communicate with appropriate departments and instructors at ISU, IWU, Heartland, and community organizations to recruit volunteers Schedule and assist Educator in conducting training for volunteers and enrichment program leaders Assemble volunteer materials and train other staff in the volunteer screening process With Educator Evaluate volunteer roles and needs on a semi-annual basis With Educator creates tasks and job descriptions for volunteers Track volunteer activity, and report data monthly Track volunteer background check process, submit documents to appropriate state agencies, and file returns accurately and promptly. Ensure proper filing of volunteer file folders, timely destruction of inactive volunteers, and compliance with University policy for folders containing incident reports or dismissals from the program. Recognize volunteers, program excellence, and youth as needed. Volunteer Management Special Events and Recognition Coordinator With Educator, develop special event opportunities such as, Unity Gives Thanks, End of Year, BBQ, etc… Timely distribution of marketing and invitations (minimum 6 weeks) Coordinate food service with food volunteers and supporting organizations for special events. OST coordinator Formulate the OST program structure Recruit specific volunteers for the OST program Collaborate with volunteers to develop high-engagement self-contained learning activities Book Rack maintenance Food and Sanitation: Obtain and maintain a food service handler’s certification; assuring compliance with McLean County Health Department food permit rules and regulations Assists with coordinating snack helpers; recruiting and leading snack helpers. Assists with ordering cleaning and hygiene supplies and maintains chemical logs Assists with coordinating the summer lunch program. Assists in coordinating Midwest Food Bank transportation and food boxes. Data Reporting Assists the 4-H YD Educator in evaluating program activities, developing impact statements, and recommending continuation, modification, or discontinuance of the program. Works with staff and volunteers to collect, process, and maintain program records and data. In conjunction with the 4-H YD Educator, prepare program reports. Submit contact reports monthly. Assists the 4-H Educator with the development and maintenance of financial support (i.e. grant writing and fundraising) for the conduct of the program activity. Complies with all Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity policies and guidelines in all aspects of Extension work; assists Unit staff with data collection for Affirmative Action, Gender, and Targeted reports. Other Duties Participates in staff development and professional development opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned by County Extension Director and 4-H Youth Development Educator.
