Salary: $115,000 - $165,000 (depending on experience)
Contract: 242 contract days, 24 vacation days

Description:
The Director of Transportation provides leadership and oversight for Lake Mountain School District's transportation services. The Director is responsible for the effective management and operation of the Transportation Department to ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and student-centered transportation services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly while maintaining high standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect for others.
- Prior experience in large-scale transportation management preferred.
- Knowledge of school transportation operations, student safety practices, budgeting, personnel management, and applicable regulations preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and respond professionally to sensitive or urgent situations.
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respond outside regular work hours during emergencies, weather events, or transportation disruptions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation-related questions and concerns for patrons and district staff.
- Supervise the Transportation Department, fleet operations, drivers, aides, mechanics, and support staff.
- Oversee the hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, and professional development of transportation employees.
- Manage the annual transportation budget and ensure responsible use of district resources.
- Coordinate with district personnel and school administrators, including the Special Education Department, to ensure safe, efficient, and appropriate transportation services for all eligible students.
- Work with school administrators to address student conduct, safety expectations, and discipline matters related to busing.
- Supervise transportation routing, route eligibility reviews, boundary-related transportation considerations, and service-area planning.
- Supervise transportation for field trips, athletics, activities, and other district-approved events.
- Conduct or oversee regular accident review committee meetings and related follow-up.
- Coordinate with the Utah Highway Patrol or other applicable agencies for annual bus inspections.
- Oversee the annual review of ineligible routes and present findings to district leadership and the Board of Education as needed.
- Monitor weather and road conditions and present findings or recommendations to district leadership.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and district transportation laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate transportation records, reports, and documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, service, and respect within the Transportation Department.
