Job Description

Education/Certification:

  • Doctorate of Educational Administration or Curriculum and Instruction Degree Required

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices and support, and state accountability system.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of District's mission, goals, major initiatives, and current academic performance data

 

Experience Preferred:

  • Five years of successful experience in educational administration at the Assistant Superintendent level or higher.

 

 

Function

Provide leadership to ensure Board policies, administrative directives, and district initiatives are implemented effectively across divisions, coordinate direct special projects as directed by the Superintendent of Schools; serve as liaison for the Superintendent with the Board of Trustees and professional organizations. Provide guidance and oversight over Curriculum and Instruction, Division of Accountability and Assessment, and Leadership.

Responsibilities:

Instructional 

  • Ensure that operations are supportive of Board's goals and objectives.
  • Emphasize district instructional goals and objectives in development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Office of Accountability and Assessment, Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, and Special Programs.

 

School or Organizational Morale

  • Communicate and promote high expectations for staff performance that are consistent with District goals and objectives.
  • Recognize excellence in staff performance to establish and maintain positive staff morale.
  • Employ collaborative decision-making process and foster and promote collegiality and team building.

School Improvement

  • Monitor activity in regard to Strategic Planning and Board goals, ensuring that the components of each plan are implemented, monitored, and evaluated.
  • Collaborates in developing the mission of the District and articulating a vision directed toward District improvement.
  • Develops, maintains, and utilizes appropriate information systems and records necessary for attainment of the District's improvement efforts.
  • Obtains and uses data and evaluative findings to measure program/service effectiveness.
  • Ensures continuous renewal of policies, procedures, and methods.

 

Personnel Management

  • Define expectations for staff regarding job performance.
  • Conduct personnel investigations as needed.
  • Encourages personal and professional growth and leadership among the staff.
  • Supervises effectively and comprehensively by systematically observing performances, recording observations, and regularly conducting formative and summative conferences.
  • Complies with applicable personnel policies, statues, and rules (e.g. EEOC, FLSA).
  • Assists in the review and revision of District policies, rules and regulations.
  • Recognizes and promotes exemplary performance.
  • Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined by TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Disseminates ideals and information to other professionals and provides Leadership in addressing the challenges facing the profession.
  • Participates actively in professional activities, shares ideas and information with other professionals, and initiates action to confront problems facing the profession.

 

Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facility Functions

  • Ensure that programs are operated efficiently and within budget constraints.
  • Represent the Superintendent at meetings/functions as directed.
  • Participate in the development of annual budget.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Serve as District's representative to boards and commissions as directed by the Superintendent of Schools
  • Represent the District to the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures and data; exercise initiative, firmness, and objectivity, and exercise sound judgment in appraising situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to receive information and/or instruction from internal/external customers through spoken expression.
  • Ability to manipulate tools/equipment/keyboards.
  • Ability to perform work while standing and/or walking for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours a day.
  • Ability to see detailed information, naturally or with correction.
  • In and out of district travel required.

Salary: ADMN/211: Starting salary range is $620.30 to $729.76 daily (individual salary calculation is based on applicable experience)
