Job Description

McKenzie Center for Innovation & Technology is currently accepting applications for an Agriculture CTE instructor.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Agriculture CTE Instructor is to teach assigned courses to include: Principles of Agriculture, Horticultural Science, Greenhouse and Soilless Production, and Horticulture Capstone within the Horticulture CTE Graduation Pathway. Instructor will create a classroom environment for students to learn effectively. Instructor will follow Indiana State Standards for courses taught.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid teaching license (or be eligible for a teaching license) in Indiana in area of study required or Workplace Specialist in related course approved for a CTE pathway.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teach District-approved curriculum.
2. Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
3. Provide and instruct on safe usage of the equipment in the lab and instructional equipment in the learning environment. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
4. Knowledge of construction careers, curriculum, and concepts within the field of agriculture.
5. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
6. Ability to organize and coordinate work.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS:
8. Works in school building environments.
9. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
10. Prepares for classes assigned.
11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
12. Experience in Skyward Qmlativ Student Management and Canvas.
13. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups.
14. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals�established clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
15. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
16. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
17. Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
18. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
19. Observes, recognizes and addresses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
20. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
21. Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties.
