Job Description
We’re looking for an AI Engineer to join our growing Data & AI team based in Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their data engineering career who’s keen to build their capability in a supportive, forward-thinking environment while working on meaningful AI and analytics initiatives across the business.
Working alongside experienced technical leaders, you’ll help build and maintain reliable data pipelines and data assets that support AI solutions and business insights. You’ll gain exposure to modern data platforms and tools while collaborating closely with AI Engineers and delivery teams to bring data-driven solutions to life.
A typical day could include:
Building and maintaining data pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver data for AI and analytics use cases
Supporting the preparation of structured and unstructured datasets for AI solutions
Translate business requirements into clear, actionable briefs for the AI Engineering team
Create and maintain user-facing documentation, guides, and training materials for deployed AI solutions
Run internal workshops and demonstrations to build AI literacy and drive adoption
Act as first point of contact for business stakeholders on AI-related queries and change management
Monitor adoption metrics and gather feedback on deployed solutions to inform iteration priorities
Develop and deliver internal communications about the AI team’s roadmap, progress, and successes
Support the Business Engagement Lead on stakeholder management and executive reporting
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts and limitations - sufficient to have credible conversations with engineers
Proficiency with collaboration tools: PowerPoint, Confluence, Notion, or equivalent
Understanding of core data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT, data modelling, and data quality
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn and grow within a team environment
It would be a bonus if you also have exposure to:
Cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
Tools such as DTB, Airflow, Data Factory, or similar orchestration platforms
Structured and unstructured datasets
AI or machine learning data concepts
Git or other version-control tools
