Economic Services is one of the six core functional areas within the Social Services Division of the Wake County Department of Social Services. We support the community by administering key programs including Medicaid, Food Nutrition Services, Work First, Child Care Subsidy, and Energy Services. We’re excited to announce an opening for a Family and Children Medicaid (FCMA) – Eligibility Caseworker I! About the Role As an FCMA Eligibility Caseworker I, you will determine initial and ongoing Medicaid eligibility for families and children. You’ll connect directly with clients—by phone, in person or go to patient's room —to gather the information needed to make accurate decisions and help families secure critical support. What You’ll Do Make referrals to community resources and supportive services Enter and maintain all required information in the case management system Request, review, and verify documentation according to policy Evaluate information and determine eligibility Meet performance standards for accuracy, timeliness, and caseload management Provide backup support for team members as needed Accurately document work and manage assigned reports Use a document management system to stay organized and efficient Work closely with the WakeMed Financial Counselors Assess client situations and provide clear information about economic benefits
