Job Description
The Director of Finance provides strategic oversight to all facets of business operations, including procurement, payroll, accounting, tax, and financial reporting. This position manages the internal control processes and operations of Boar’s Head Resort’s accounting function, ensuring highly ethical practices and rigorous financial stewardship. As a member of the resort leadership team, the Director of Finance maintains financial objectives, prepares management reports, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the accounting and purchasing departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the University of Virginia Foundation, Resort General Manager, and management team to develop and implement business strategies aligned with the overall mission, vision, and values.
- Strategically align resources to meet priorities and objectives through rigorous financial stewardship, data analysis, and observation.
- Oversee the creation and preparation of all financial data, providing timely and accurate monthly, interim, and annual financial statements and departmental reports.
- Ensure the integrity of critical functions including annual audits, tax compliance (local, state, federal), and the precise management of payroll, salaries, and withholdings.
- Manage and control all resort financial operations, including revenues, credit card/cash operations, accounts receivable/payable, departmental inventories, and capital expenditure plans.
- Establish and enforce operational accounting practices, internal controls, and policies to ensure excellence and compliance.
- Analyze financial results and offer sound observations to improve performance, maximize profits, and support the resort’s strategic position.
- Collaborate with department managers to develop annual operating and capital budgets and develop strategies for revenue growth.
- Oversee the infrastructure and security of information technology software and hardware as it relates to financial data stewardship.
- Lead, train, and manage the accounting and purchasing staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, change, and professional excellence.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders including auditors, guests, and vendors.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA designation required: 5 – 7 years’ hospitality accounting experience required. Resort experience preferred.
- 3 – 5 year’s prior management experience required.
- Excellent PC skills, to include various accounting software, advanced spreadsheet, and word processing. Proficiency with M3 accounting software preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including managers, clients, customers, and ownership.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to work with others as part of a team.
