Large Animal Supervisor
Position Summary
The Large Animal Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the large animal department to support high-quality patient care, efficient workflow, and excellent client service. This role provides leadership and support to veterinary technicians and client service team members while partnering closely with veterinarians to maintain operational excellence in both ambulatory and in-clinic services.
The successful candidate is an organized and motivated leader with experience in veterinary medicine, staff supervision, scheduling, and client communication.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
- Provide compassionate and professional care to patients and clients
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude
- Coordinate staff schedules and daily assignments
- Train, mentor, and support team members to promote high standards of patient care and professionalism
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and safety-focused work environment
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities
- Support efficient scheduling and workflow for appointments, farm calls, emergencies, and procedures
- Oversee cleanliness and organization of treatment, office, and client-facing areas
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding appointments, treatments, and follow-up care
- Participate in supervisor and departmental meetings
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support hospital operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous veterinary industry experience preferred
- Large animal handling experience preferred
- Customer service experience preferred
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred

Computer Skills
Experience with veterinary practice management software is preferred. Familiarity with Impromed and Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and close visual attention. Team members may occasionally assist with animal handling and restraint.
Work Environment
This position works in both office and veterinary hospital settings and routinely uses standard office equipment. The role may involve exposure to animal-related odors, noise, medical procedures, and handling of animals in a clinical environment. Appropriate safety protocols and protective equipment are provided and required.
