Job Description
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineer with strong experience in plastics product development to support the design, development and optimization of industrial wireless crane transmitters and remote-control systems.
The role requires mechanical engineering expertise, plastics product development, integration of electromechanical controls and a strong understanding of how wireless crane transmitter devices interface with automation systems, sensors, industrial control architectures, RF interfacing, thermal robustness and compliance with global regulatory standards.
This position is in Hubbell Services Pvt. Ltd., Design center, Chennai and reports to Asst. Manager – Mechanical Design.
A Day In The Life
- Design rugged transmitter housings using injection‑molded plastics, referencing materials used in industry systems such as reinforced glass‑filled polymers for durability.
- Engineer compact, ergonomic assemblies based on real‑world transmitter dimensions.
- Develop mechanical features to support keypads, joysticks, E‑Stops, displays, antennas, and internal electronics—matching multi-function transmitter designs featuring programmable buttons and displays.
- Collaborate with RF and electronics teams to ensure optimal antenna placement and signal reliability, considering RF operational principles where transmitters communicate via radio frequency to crane-mounted receivers.
- Design enclosures that minimize RF interference, support stable signal transmission, and comply with range/frequency requirements.
- Support operator‑centric design decisions based on safety and usability advantages of wireless control systems used for maintaining safe distance and enabling precise operation.
- Engineer for harsh industrial environments: dust, moisture, shock, vibration, and temperature extreme requirements highlighted in crane remote control applications.
- Ensure product compliance with industry standards such as CE, FCC, ISO9001 which are required across multiple industrial transmitter families.
- Document engineering designs (drawings, BOM, GD&T), material specifications, manufacturing notes, and service instructions.
- Assist in meeting OSHA/ANSI safety expectations for crane remote control systems.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- 4–6 years mechanical/mechatronics background.
- Strong plastics design + rugged handheld product experience.
- Experience with electro‑mechanical integration.
- Comfortable designing for safety, RF communication, and industrial environments.
- Exposure to crane controls, wireless controllers, or similar industrial products.
- Must be proficient in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Product data management cycle.
- Strong interpersonal skills for developing and functioning in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Project, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
