Job Summary
|
We are seeking a motivated, responsible, and customer-focused Part-Time Retail Sales Associate to join our team at The Powder Room Shooting Range and Training Center. This role involves providing knowledgeable assistance to customers in the retail shop, promoting and selling firearms, accessories, and ammunition, and ensuring a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for all patrons. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, a passion for firearms and shooting sports, and a commitment to safety and legal compliance.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions
|
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner
- Provide expert product knowledge on firearms, ammunition, and accessories
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using POS systems
- Ensure all sales comply with federal, state, and local firearms laws (ATF Form 4473, background checks, etc.)
- Guide customers through the firearms purchase process, including safe handling practices
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the retail area
- Restock merchandise and monitor inventory levels
- Promote shooting range services, memberships, and events
- Assist with range check-in/check-out procedures as needed
- Handle customer questions and resolve issues promptly
- Follow all store policies, safety protocols, and legal requirements
- Participate in occasional training and team meetings

Education and Experience
|
- Must be 21 years of age or older (per federal firearm sales law)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous sales or retail experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of firearms and ammunition (or willingness to learn)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours
- Must be able to pass a background check

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
|
- Familiarity with shooting range operations
- Experience with ATF compliance and firearm sales
- NRA or equivalent firearm safety certification a plus
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Physical Demands
|
- Must be able to stand for long periods at a time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Working Conditions

- Retail shop and indoor shooting range setting
- Exposure to loud noise and firearms (hearing/eye protection provided)
