Title and Summary

Director, Software Engineering

We are looking for an experienced Director of R&D, reporting to the VP of R&D, to lead a strategic engineering group responsible for the core big data platform of DY, our consumer-facing AI agent, and the analytics ecosystem that powers product insights and decision making.
As the Director of Consumer Agents, your group will build the future of agentic commerce, where AI agents actively guide, decide, and act on behalf of consumers in real time. This is not a lab experiment, it’s a production-scale, consumer-facing platform operating at global enterprise scale.
This role combines engineering leadership, large-scale distributed systems, AI-powered product delivery, and data-driven execution. We’re looking for a technical leader who can scale teams, deliver results, and drive cross-org initiatives across Engineering, Product, Data, and Business.
Responsibilities
• Lead and grow 5 engineering teams responsible for:
o Core infrastructure and Data platform services
o Consumer-facing LLM-based agent capabilities
o Analytics platforms and data pipelines
• Drive execution of large-scale, cross-functional R&D initiatives with high business impact
• Define and execute the technical vision and architecture for scalable, reliable, and secure systems
• Coordinate and work closely with other R&D groups to successfully deliver shared initiatives, platform capabilities, and end-to-end customer solutions
• Build high-performing engineering teams with strong ownership, delivery culture, and engineering excellence
• Partner closely with Product, Data Science to deliver innovative consumer experiences
• Ensure scalability, performance, reliability, and quality across all platforms and services
• Drive a data-driven engineering culture using KPIs, analytics, and measurable outcomes
• Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, helping scale leadership capabilities across the organization
• Balance strategic long-term architecture decisions with fast-paced product delivery
Requirements
• 4+ years of senior engineering leadership experience, including leading managers and multiple engineering teams
• Strong background in infrastructure/platform engineering and production environments at scale
• Experience building or leading AI/LLM-based products or intelligent consumer-facing systems
• Strong understanding of analytics ecosystems, telemetry, data pipelines, and data-driven product development
• Experience working closely with Product and Business stakeholders in fast-moving environments
• Strong technical depth combined with excellent execution and organizational leadership skills
• Proven ability to lead through growth, organizational change, and scaling challenges
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholders effectively
