BUSINESS OFFICER I

Acts as business and/or operations officer for a small to mid-size division, department or sub-division. Operating under minimal supervision, responsibilities may encompass financial, administrative, personnel, space and database management. Coordinates implementation of policies and procedures for the assigned areas of responsibility. Serves as financial/budget/grants management officer for assigned unit. Directs administrative operations of assigned unit and supervises support staff. May solicit funds and perform special projects as needed.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
· Financial Budget Management: Serves as the primary officer for managing and reconciling division accounts, including state, grant, foundation, and clinical revenue accounts.
· Monitors expenditures, prepares financial reports, and provides projections.
· This position must make decisions accurately and with full understanding of implications with only minimal oversight by Chair/Program Directors/Center Directors.
· Grants Contracts: Assists with grant submissions, manages departmental contracts, and ensures compliance with sponsor and university regulations.
· The budget assignments and spending decisions require a firm understanding of budget capacity and Departmental priorities.
· This position must make those decisions accurately and with full understanding of implications with only minimal oversight by Chair/Program Directors/Center Directors.
· Work closely with faculty, staff and students to process various payments/ reimbursements.
· This position works closely with department chair, administrators, program directors and center directors in executing departmental initiatives and special projects as required. This includes but is not limited to the Accreditation/Certification processes and requirements, continuing education seminars, national symposiums and case competitions.
· The position manages budgets and oversees all expenses for added special projects such as the MSHA case competition. This activity is complex because it involves managing budgets, expenses and contracts from the UAB Health System, national organizations (AUPHA, HLAA and CAHME),
· Work with the IFSIS Team (International Faculty Staff Immigration Services) Work with students and faculty H-1B forms when needed.
· This position is responsible for conducting departmental space surveys, coordinating office moves and arranging office and equipment setup for new departmental faculty members.
· Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $52,555- $85,400
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (3) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
