Job Description Summary

The NDT & Special Process Compliance Lead will oversee all special processes compliance activities within the company and have direct responsibility for NDT processes acting as NDT responsible level 3.

The NDT & Special Process Compliance Lead ensures and maintains the integrity of the quality compliance across all special processes, guaranteeing strict adherence with Nadcap requirements and GE Aerospace's GT193 certification. The holder is responsible for regulatory compliance and accreditation ensuring product safety, this in direct collaboration with the designated special process owners.

This position will lead the compliance and qualification of NDT processes to Nadcap and GT 193, manage NDT related projects, evaluate and select the state-of-the-art NDT technologies, ensure proper certification, training, and ongoing development of NDT personnel, with a strong focus on Nadcap compliance.

Job Description

Responsibilities

As NDT & Special Process Compliance Lead

  • Lead the preparation, execution, and response to Nadcap and GE Aerospace special process audits.
  • Administer the eAuditNet system and GE portals for uploading documentation and Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) plans.
  • Review and approve Process Control Plans (PCP) and operating procedures to ensure compliance with AC71xx and GT193.
  • Perform and facilitate (in coordination with the site QMS Leader) compliance audits and mandatory annual self-audits for each special process.
  • Supervise compliance with periodic testing (chemical bath analysis, temperature profiles TUS/SAT in heat treatment, adhesion tests in Thermal Spray, etc.).
  • Recommends opportunities for improvement and take the necessary actions for the special processes alongside with the assigned special process engineer as applicable.

As NDT Responsible Level 3

  • Own NDT planning and approvals for current processes as well as any future processes that may be incorporated into NDT program.
  • Lead and oversees the NDT processes, assuming technical responsibility, and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards such as NAS410, AS9100, Nadcap and GE Aerospace requirements.
  • Serve as main point of contact for NDT to other areas such as Quality, Process Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, etc.
  • Lead the corrective actions related to NDT non conformances.
  • Responsible to support and advice the NDT Engineers and Technicians.
  • Responsible to maintain overall control and cognizance over the NDT training program, including designating or approving qualified examiners, instructors and outside agencies.
  • Provide external or internal training, examination, and certification of personnel. Conduct NDT examination of the acceptance of parts, evaluate practical knowledge and document the results of demonstrated proficiency.
  • Responsible to conduct contract review activities including codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT methods ensuring full incorporation on the Nadcap and QMS procedures and work instructions.
  • Provide analysis to assist in problem solving for NDT processes and lead NDT related investigations.
  • Select method, technology and techniques for NDT testing and inspection.
  • Prepare, verify and approve the adequacy NDT procedures and work instructions.
  • Responsible to perform preliminary review on nonconformance material and rework/repair methods which requires NDT Level 3 participation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Industrial, mechanical engineering or related engineering field
  • Proficient on Nadcap Checklists (AC7102 Heat Treat, AC7108 Chemical Processing, AC7109 Coatings, AC7114 NDT, AC7126 Conventional Machining, AC7116 Non-conventional Machining, AC7110, Welding) and GT193 only special processes (BEA and UT)
  • Currently or previously certified to NDT Level 3 in Eddy Current, Ultrasonic and FPI testing in accordance with NAS-410
  • 5 or more years’ experience in non-destructive testing field and special Processes
  • Must have documented hours for Training, & Experience per NAS-410 in Eddy Current, Ultrasonic and FPI Testing as Level 3: 80 hours formal training for UT & ET, 32 hours formal training for PT, Minimum 800 h experience for UT & ET, Minimum 400 h experience for PT.
  • Aerospace or aviation experience strongly desired
  • Chemical processes experience; Swab Etch, Cleaning.
  • Proficient on AS9100, NADCAP Special Processes and NDT
  • Experience in the interpretation of flaws in rotative aircraft engine parts strongly desired.
  • Proficient in Problem-Solving Methodologies.
