Job Description
DESCRIPTION: Performs activities related to coordinating a library within a school building, including ordering and shelving books and materials and maintaining inventory, updating library information, checking out books and materials, and assisting students in using the library.
SALARY: Classified, starting at Grade J, $20.13 based on previous job experience. 8 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday on the 9-month work calendar, paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working under the direct supervision of the librarian in the library and copy room.
- Understanding the purpose and function of a school library.
- Organizing and arranging a collection.
- Receiving and processing materials.
- Working with technology in the library.
- Developing a library schedule, maintaining inventory.
- Dealing with lost and overdue materials.
- Working with teachers and running copies for teachers.
- Responsible for setting up training sessions to educate students on how to use the library.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, some college education preferred.
- Possess good listening skills and works as a team player.
- Ability to work independently.
- Enjoys working with middle school students.
- Library instructional skills helpful.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
