Position Summary

Provides manufacturing engineering support to sustain, troubleshoot, and optimize programs involving the manufacture of advanced/highly engineered Aerospace and Industrial parts and assemblies. Ensures a smooth transition from various program phases (e.g. development, low-rate initial production, full rate production). Strong emphasis on continuous improvement for production programs by leading efforts to improve efficiency in production and production development operations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates Wide breadth of knowledge of manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, pressing, crimping, part marking, cutting, testing and automation assembly methods.
  • Applies Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methods and tools to resolve systemic issues of moderate size.
  • Utilizes foundational analysis methods to evaluate data and draw conclusions in support of recommendations.
  • Designs new tooling and upgrades to current tooling, fixturing and equipment of moderate complexity.
  • Recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications to operation sequences resulting in reduction of scrap and cost savings of moderate scale.
  • Apply the fundamentals of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to active programs.
  • Applies understanding of industry standards to ensure fist pass yield within production cells assigned.
  • Utilizes foundational process controls to ensure conforming product is developed.
  • Plans and executes projects and subtasks including estimation, tracking and completion of projects on time and within budget. This includes generation of schedules, budgets, business cases and project plans. Support the development of Purchase Acquisition Requests (PAR) and the associated approval process.
  • Generate manufacturing work instructions, create and update assembly manuals and own management of change documentation.
  • Ensure configuration control is maintained within assigned product line scope.
  • Supports MRB evaluations for component MRB issues within assigned product line scope.
  • Identify and implement EHS improvements within assigned product line scope.
  • Leads by example and demonstrates initiative and ownership over assigned product lines.
  • Communicates clearly in written form and verbally to explain their work to Sr. management, peers and other factory personnel.
  • Contributes to the creation of reports to convey results of process capabilities and/or process modification to management and to program teams.
  • Other duties as assigned by management. 

Position Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) discipline. 
    • 3+ years of hands-on engineering in a manufacturing environment with experience in Lean and Six Sigma.
    • Relevant experience is considered to be associated with an aerospace industry serving in an engineering capacity.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Ability to work independently and to manage time effectively.
    • Ability to exhibit poise, composure and confidence when confronting stressful or high-pressure situations. 
    • Relevant experience in negotiating prices, terms, and conditions.
    • Competent use of MS Office software including MS Project, and MS Excel (with Macros). 
    • Strong analytical mindset.
    • Highly organized, detail oriented and able to respond to change quickly.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and a strong sense of urgency for completing work on time.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Computer Aided Design (3D modeling & 2D drawings) using software such as SolidWorks, Catia, NX, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD.
    • Fundamental understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Highly proficient in the fundamentals of manufacturing and tooling techniques, inspection, and metrology, including use of CMM machines.
    • Prior experience with Jira is a plus.
