Job Description
Eurasia Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Analyst to join our Energy & Natural Resources practice, to be located in the firm's Washington, DC office with the possibility to later relocate to our Singapore or Tokyo offices.
In this position, you will assess the political and regulatory risks impacting the global energy sector, particularly Asian energy markets. You will develop coverage of issues of relevance to Eurasia Group's financial, corporate, and government clients. You will either have, or will develop, the ability to analyze important policy drivers and industry fundamentals in the global oil, natural gas, and renewable/clean energy markets.
The core area of responsibility will focus on the Asian energy markets, particularly with respect to geopolitical, policy, and regulatory issues impacting oil, gas, electric power, alternative energy, and climate. You will support the broader efforts of the GENR team and regional analysts to cover global LNG markets as well.
You will perform in-depth research and will write both short analyses and longer papers. You will also be expected to develop a network of relationships across the LNG industry, including producers, traders, offtakers, shippers, and government regulators. You will frequently brief both private sector and government clients. You will therefore have excellent analytical and presentation (oral and written) skills. You will have excellent research capabilities and write in a good, succinct style at native English standard. You understand deadlines and manage competing demands on one’s time.
You will have at a minimum a MA in political science or a relevant field, (PhD preferred) and demonstrable academic and work experience (including internships) that is relevant to global energy policy and geopolitics. Qualified applicants should have three to five years’ experience. An Asian language skill is a significant plus.
