About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Creating a nurturing and ordered learning environment which is learner centred, supportive, cooperative and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents and practices relating to students with a disability.
- Collaboratively developing and implementing quality inclusive education practices, curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy; evaluating their effectiveness; assessing and reporting student progress and learning outcomes; and reporting these to students, parents and the community.
- Implementing effective, adaptive, inclusive and equitable practices and teaching strategies.
- Oversee the development of Personalised Support Plans which clearly outline adjustment requirements in language discernible by teachers and comply with all evidence requirements for NCCD timelines.
- Proactively and collaboratively engaging in professional renewal practices to enhance student outcomes.
- Working collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers and other staff members in contributing to the professional life of the school.
- Providing effective supervision of students.
- Establishing positive relationships in the pastoral care of students and supporting their spiritual and moral development.
- Encouraging the involvement of the school and students in the life of the church.
- Engaging the wider community in learning and teaching programs
- Supporting the school in special events and celebrations.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Knowledge of educational policies, practices, and strategies that support students with disabilities, ensuring a learner-centered and supportive environment
- Curriculum development and adaption tailored to diverse student needs, while ensuring alignment with relevant curriculum standards and policies
- Understanding the NCCD and the process of developing detailed learning profiles, including appropriate adjustments and evidence collection for students with disabilities
- Effective classroom management skills to provide a nurturing, ordered environment and supervise students to ensure safety, focus, and engagement
- Ability to engage with the wider community, building partnerships that enhance learning and teaching programs, creating opportunities for collaboration between students, families, and external stakeholders
- Experience and post graduate qualification in inclusive education an advantage
- For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
