The role We are seeking a Strategy and Transformation Director, a senior executive role reporting directly to the Region President, with a central mandate to shape, drive and deliver the region’s strategic agenda. This role owns regional strategic planning, ensuring strong alignment with Group strategy while translating it into clear priorities, concrete actions and measurable outcomes across Europe. Acting as a trusted strategic partner to the Region President and Leadership Team, the role combines strategic depth, leadership maturity and execution discipline. Designed as a key talent pipeline position, this role offers exceptional exposure to executive decision‑making and is intended to prepare the incumbent for future operational leadership responsibilities within the Group. What you will do In this role, you will: Lead multi‑year regional strategic planning, translating Group ambition into clear regional priorities and execution roadmaps. Drive strategic alignment and execution, working closely with country leadership and Product Lines to ensure strategy is consistently deployed and delivered across Europe. Sponsor and lead high‑impact strategic initiatives and transformation programs that shape regional performance, growth and long‑term positioning. Support critical strategic decisions, providing robust business cases, strategic analyses and executive‑level recommendations. Strengthen performance and governance discipline, defining key strategic KPIs, reviewing progress and proactively addressing deviations. Ensure strategic alignment with CSR and sustainability priorities, acting as the regional governance interface with Group CSR and Sustainability functions, without operational ownership. Serve as a senior strategic advisor to the Region President and Leadership Team, contributing to leadership discussions and representing the region in selected strategic forums when relevant. Who you are You are a senior business leader with strong strategic capability, able to operate at the highest levels of the organisation. You bring 10+ years of experience combining business leadership and strategy roles within the rail industry, with a strong understanding of its operational and market dynamics. You have proven experience in business leadership roles (e.g. industrial, commercial or operations), with direct accountability for performance and delivery. You are comfortable navigating matrix organizations and influencing executive‑level stakeholders. You combine strong strategic thinking with a pragmatic, operational mindset, with the ability to translate strategy into execution. You communicate with clarity and impact, translating complex strategic topics into compelling narratives for senior leaders. You demonstrate strong leadership credibility and presence, with potential for future senior operational leadership role. You are able to operate effectively in complex, ambiguous environments, with a high degree of autonomy. You communicate with clarity and impact. You are a collaborative leader, able to work across functions, geographies and cultures. You act with a high level of integrity and discretion.
