The Position

Your Department

We are a global team of 100+ biostatisticians and data scientists united by the ambition to advance diagnostic assays and elevate their use in clinical practice. Located across Roche Diagnostics sites in Penzberg, Mannheim, Indianapolis, and Sant Cugat del Vallès, our mission is to provide robust quantitative methods for all stages of the product lifecycle—from early research to market registration. By combining our statistical expertise with a profound understanding of the clinical questions at hand, we extract actionable information from data and deliver customer-tailored insights.

Your Team

Our team thrives on creating innovative solutions for both novel and traditional challenges in data analysis. We are heavily involved in early biomarker discovery projects, aiming to identify new biomarkers and develop clinical algorithms that solve unmet medical needs. To achieve our goals, we leverage data from clinical trials as well as real-world data. Collaboration is at our core; we work in close partnership with colleagues across clinical science, clinical operations, business, and assay development.

Your Main Objectives and Tasks

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis of clinical data and develop clinical algorithms by applying state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning methods.

  • Perform statistical analysis for clinical studies and real world data, generate analysis reports, and present findings to stakeholders.

  • Analyze data from biomarker discovery experiments using multivariate and machine learning techniques.

  • Support peer-reviewed publications that demonstrate the clinical utility of your results.

  • Proactively contribute to and support cross-functional project teams.

Who You Are

  • You hold a university degree (Master’s) in (Bio-)Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, (Bio-)Informatics, or a comparable field; a Ph.D. is a plus.

  • You possess proven expertise in applying biostatistical and machine learning methods to clinical data, ideally in the context of biomarker evaluation or similar research tasks.

  • You have excellent knowledge of R or a comparable programming language.

  • You bring exceptional communication and analytical skills, with a strong desire to continuously expand your knowledge and apply new quantitative methodologies.

  • You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
