Essential Duties and Responsibilities (This is not an exhaustive list of all duties/responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned)

  • Carefully plan meals to ensure that residents’ food needs are being met.
  • Purchase food to follow posted menus and standardized recipes.
  • Oversee food inventory by monitoring for proper food temperature, rotating, and storing food properly to eliminate waste.
  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, utensils, and equipment after meals.
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles.
  • Verify that prepared food meets the requirements for quality, quantity, and any dietary needs.
  • Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.
  • Requisition food products, check inventory when delivered for accuracy and quality.
  • Record supply usage for inventory and records.
  • Supervise and provide direction for other Cooks at LWH.
  • Ensure that food safety guidelines are followed, including sanitation and health & safety standards.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality of Lifeways’ clients and records.
  • Perform all work duties and activities in compliance with Lifeway’s policies/procedures, Oregon Administrative Rules, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 1-3 years’ experience in food service
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successful completion of background check and drug testing
  • Current CPR certification
  • AVADE training completion within 90 days of hire
