Job Description
How You’ll Make an Impact:
We are looking for a hands-on leader to oversee the daily operations of both our Environmental Services (EVS) and Dietary teams. In this dual role, your primary focus (~70%) will be leading our housekeeping and laundry staff to ensure our residents enjoy a safe, spotless, and welcoming home. The remaining ~30% of your focus will be supporting our dietary operations, making sure meals are nutritious and meet strict healthcare standards. You will coordinate daily workflows, champion team training, and ensure our services align with top-tier healthcare practices, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and infection prevention and control (IPAC) guidelines.
As a Environmental Services and Dietary Supervisor, you will:
- Lead Environmental Services (70% Focus): Supervise, schedule, and train the housekeeping and laundry teams to maintain a safe, spotless, and welcoming home for residents.
- Coordinate daily, weekly, and seasonal deep-cleaning schedules across all public and residential areas.
- Oversee laundry and linen management, including the marking, labeling, and inventory of residents' personal clothing.
- Champion healthcare cleaning methodologies, strictly enforcing IPAC, PIDAC, and occupational health and safety standards (including outbreak and isolation cleaning protocols).
- Manage room readiness, ensuring vacant rooms are fully prepped for new admissions, and respectfully coordinate the transfer or secure storage of resident belongings during moves.
- Oversee Dietary Operations (30% Focus): Supervise dietary aides, cooks, and kitchen staff during meal preparation and service.
- Monitor meal delivery to ensure portions and plates strictly follow residents' therapeutic dietary plans (diabetic, texture-modified, allergies, low-sodium, etc.).
- Maintain impeccable food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with Public Health, HACCP, and corporate guidelines.
- Address resident food concerns or special meal requests on the floor, collaborating closely with dietitians, nursing, and management teams.
- Shared Inventory & Administration: Manage inventory and order supplies across both departments (housekeeping, laundry, kitchen, and food supplies).
- Conduct regular quality audits of resident rooms, common spaces, linen supplies, and kitchen areas.
- Complete required daily documentation, including temperature logs, cleaning records, incident reports, and compliance checks.
Qualifications
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Previous lead hand or supervisory experience with a strong background in housekeeping, laundry, and/or food services (healthcare or Long-Term Care experience is highly preferred).
- Completion of a Healthcare Environmental Services Management (HESM) diploma, HESS micro-credential, or HealthyClean Trained Specialist certification.
- A valid Food Handler Certification.
- Strong understanding of LTC dietary regulations and therapeutic diets (holding or working towards a CSNM certification is a great bonus).
- In-depth knowledge of Ministry of Long-Term Care standards, IPAC protocols, and PIDAC cleaning standards.
- Clear communication, strong time management, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- A compassionate, person-centered approach to senior care.
