Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the management of assigned classroom. Provide responsible supervision for young children while teaching developmentally appropriate skills to foster growth and independence through planned, but flexible program activities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Must be 18 years of age
CDA and/or child care training preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must understand the essential elements of a high quality early childhood program;
Must discipline in a way that teaches acceptable behavior and self-control while successfully redirecting inappropriate activity;
Must maintain organized, nurturing environment in which all children can participate and grow;
Must implement activities through daily lesson plans to meet the developmental needs of individual children;
Must effectively communicate with children, parents and fellow staff members;
Must regularly attend training classes to advance personal and professional skills;
Must be physically able to lift 30 pounds to table height.
Experience:
One to three years’ experience working in a childcare center or with children is required.
