Job Description
Lead Teacher- Excellent Beginnings Early Childhood (193 days)
Position Purpose: Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Elementary Education and the Program Administrator to work collaboratively with program leadership, early childhood teachers and early childhood staff to improve student learning and development.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the development and leadership of early childhood programs consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes an environment that is safe and conducive to child development and growth.
- Coach and mentor fellow teachers, fostering a collaborative team environment
- Build strong, empathetic relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Assist early childhood teachers and staff with implementation of evidence-based practices, including CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) frameworks and Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards: Birth through 60 Months
- Assist the program leadership in creating and implementing district instructional plans based on the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards: Birth through 60 Months and CLASS framework
- Demonstrate exemplary early childhood instruction for teachers through collaborative lesson planning, gathering student evidence, debrief/reflection over student progress, modeling,and co-teaching
- Assist in providing early childhood teachers and staff with training in social emotional development, cognitive development, language development, emergent literacy, mathematical thinking, content and instructional strategies that are robust and provide a coherent and rich foundation for learning
- Assist teachers in diagnosing individual student weaknesses, match these areas of need with appropriate instructional interventions and resources
- Model and assist students, teachers and staff with problem-solving skills and a growth mindset in all interactions
- Lead building efforts to analyze student data and assist leadership and teachers with the placement of students in appropriate interventions
- Monitor and report the effectiveness of improved instruction through student performance data to program leadership and PLC teams
- Participate in various early childhood training sessions (CLASS) for leaders and teachers
- Meet regularly with the Program Administrators
- Demonstrate reflective practice and continuous professional growth
Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Program Administrator and other Central Office Administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Uses standard office equipment such a personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines and telephones
Travel Requirements:
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Teacher certification in early childhood education and/or elementary education
- Five years recent experience teaching early childhood
- A deep level of understanding of the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards: Birth through 60 Months
- Evidence of success in working with adult learners
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills
- Evidence of strong written communication and presentation skills
- Evidence of strong planning and organizational skills
- Evidence of successful leadership in early childhood
- Experience in conducting staff development
- Experience in mentoring/coaching teachers
- In-depth knowledge of a variety of early childhood instructional strategies and routines
- A strong commitment to team collaboration through Professional Learning Communities
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
Works in standard office and school building environments
Certification/License:
- Arkansas State Certification as a Teacher
- Arkansas State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level is a plus
