Job Overview
The Crossing Guard plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians at designated crosswalks, particularly during school hours. This position requires a responsible individual who can effectively manage traffic flow and communicate with both drivers and pedestrians to maintain a safe environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a commitment to safety compliance.
Duties
- Monitor and direct pedestrian traffic at crosswalks to ensure safe passage for children and other pedestrians.
- Communicate clearly with drivers to manage traffic flow and ensure compliance with stop signals.
- Maintain a visible presence during designated crossing times, wearing appropriate safety gear.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the appropriate authorities promptly.
- Assist children in understanding traffic rules and safe crossing practices.
- Stay informed about local traffic laws, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols related to pedestrian crossings.
Requirements
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, first aid, CPR, and vital signs is preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and EPA guidelines is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and drivers.
- Ability to manage compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
- A responsible attitude towards ensuring the safety of others in a busy environment.
- Previous experience in a similar role or training in traffic management is beneficial but not mandatory.
