ANNOUNCEMENT OF SERVICE VACANCY
Position: Mechanic/Bus Operator-Transportation Department
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Valid WV driver's license, CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement or be willing to obtain endorsement
3. Pass state competency mechanic's test
5. Pass state performance test
6. Pass background check, employment drug screening (pre-and post-employment and random screening)
7. Satisfactory WV driving record check
8. Previous verifiable mechanical experience
9. Possess or willing to obtain motor vehicle inspector's license
10. Competent in the use of hand tools and related mechanical equipment, must furnish a reasonable amount of hand tools
11. Competent in acetylene or electric welding
12. Ability to communicate, read, write, follow instructions, and perform simple mathematical computations common to the trade
13. Demonstration of skills in using a computer diagnostic equipment
14. Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of bus bodies and chassis including but not limited to electrical, heating, braking, suspension, electronic and air systems, etc.
15. Demonstrate success in performing a wide variety of tasks requiring an understanding of and proficiency in mechanical repair of busses, automobiles, trucks, and other equipment
16. Ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with others
17. Attend any required trainings
Additional Qualifications/Requirements:
1. Qualified and certified bus operator certification, as per State and County regulations
2. Will be required to operate a school bus and transport students as needed, per the Supervisor/Director or Superintendent
Schedule: Rotating on a weekly basis
Salary: As per §18A-4-8 and §18A-4-8a
Term: 245 days (prorated for the 2025-2026 school year)
