TITLE: Instructional Support Intervention Teacher Grades K-3


REPORTS TO: The person employed as an Instructional Support Intervention Teacher will 
work with the Building Principal and the County Office Administrators. The school principal with input from County Office Administrators will conduct evaluation of the Intervention Teacher.

JOB GOAL: Increase student mastery in reading and math

QUALIFICATIONS:

The person employed as an Intervention Teacher will possess the following qualifications:
Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in any of the areas of Reading, Language Arts, Multi-Categorical, or K-6 Elementary Ed.
Experience teaching preferred.
Any combination of training and experience, which would lead to successful employment as an Intervention Teacher.
Successful completion of the interview, which includes the preparation and presentation of a lesson on a given topic.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

The duties and responsibilities of the Instructional Support Intervention Teacher will be to:
Plan instruction in cooperation with the classroom teacher maximizing in class time and minimizing pull out time.
Evaluate the progress of students on a regular basis and report the results to the classroom teacher and parents as directed by the Administrator.
Plan and implement a program of study that includes extended time before and after school and during the summer to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students under reasonable terms.
Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purpose outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
Attend all meetings and mandatory workshops.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Prepare for instruction and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal and/or the Administrator.
Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. In harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved.
Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, county policy, and administrative regulation.
Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Maintain professional competence through in service education activities provided by Ohio County Schools and the Administrator and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
Serve on staff committees as required.
Utilize instructional management systems, which increase student learning and maximize time on task.
Monitor student progress towards learning objectives.
Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
Maintain professional work habits.
Interact with Special Education, Building Principal and School Psychologist to design and implement school-based interventions.
Provide professional support by preparing and helping to deliver lessons in conjunction with the teachers.
Assist teachers with the pre and post testing and data collection.
Perform other duties assigned by the Principal, Administrator, Deputy Superintendent or Superintendent.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 Days
