Summer Programs - Itinerant School Nurse
Lincoln County Schools
Dates of summer school - Monday – Thursday - July 7 – July 30
Will work at all Summer Program Site Locations (Midway Elementary, Hamlin Pre K-8, Harts Pre K-8, LCHS, Guyan Valley Middle School, West Hamlin Elementary)
Work hours – 830-230 pm – Monday - Thursday
Pay - $25.00 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
The School Nurse will obtain and maintain certification as required by WVDE. The School Nurse coordinates the health services program for the assessment, evaluation, maintenance, and improvement of student health needs in a school setting; enhancing the education process of students by maximizing their health and well-being, modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning, and promoting an optimal level of wellness.
RELATIONSHIP TO OTHERS
1. Work under the supervision of the Lead School Nurse, in the attainment of the educational goals of Lincoln County Schools.
2. Work with parents, principals, teachers, and all other professional and service personnel in a team effort to provide the best possible health service for students.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduated of an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
2. Certification of School Nursing or agreement to obtain certification within 3 years of hiring
3. State licensure as a Registered Nurse
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
1. Provide healthcare to students with injuries and acute or chronic health problems at all summer school program sites.
2. Develop and monitor healthcare plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities
3. Monitor vaccination records, ensure immunizations are up to date per state law
4. Ensure environment is safe for children and school staff
5. Review and implement physician orders
6. Provide Classroom Medical Management of Emergencies (CMME) to staff
7. Provide specialized healthcare training to service personnel
8. Other duties as assigned
