Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY 

The hourly intern supports district and school-based initiatives by assisting with special projects and day-to-day operational tasks. Responsibilities include helping to organize, plan, and track project activities; supporting coordination of timelines, deliverables, and resources; and contributing to the successful completion of assigned projects. The intern collaborates with staff across departments, communicates project updates, and helps manage expectations to ensure effective service delivery.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to support problem-solving
  • Ability to assist with planning and tracking short- and long-term projects
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management and other software tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with students, parents, administrators, and staff
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assists with coordinating project activities by supporting planning, organization, and implementation tasks under the guidance of supervising staff
  • Organizes and maintains project files, records, and documentation
  • Helps update project information and track assigned tasks and deadlines
  • Support communication of project updates and information to team members and stakeholders
  • Assists with preparing reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other project-related materials using standard templates and tools
  • Communicates clearly in writing and assists with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Supports project team collaboration by assisting with task coordination and follow-up communications
  • Assists with scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and documenting meeting notes and action items
  • Helps monitor project deliverables and assist with documentation and project close-out activities
  • Assists instructional staff with facilitating enrichment activities and classroom support functions
  • Provides supervision and assistance to students during instructional sessions, transitions, and program activities under staff direction
  • Observes student behavior and report concerns or incidents to supervising staff promptly
  • Assists with preparing instructional materials, classroom setups, and organizing supplies
  • Supports student participation and engagement through small group activities and individualized assistance as directed by staff
  • Participates in staff meetings, trainings, and program orientations to support professional learning and development
  • Assists with attendance tracking, filing, and maintaining program records
  • Provides general administrative, clerical, and program support duties as assigned by supervising staff

Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.

Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 15 or more pounds on a frequent basis.
Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress
 
Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Will require travel to multiple sites.

COMPENSATION:
Salary Grade: $15.00 per hour High School Student / $25.00 per hour College Student
Salary Range: Salary Schedules - Atlanta Public Schools
Work Year: 29 hours per week
