Client Partner, Public Sector (SLED & HigherEd) - West
Job Description
We are seeking a high-caliber Director-level Client Partner to accelerate our Public Sector business across California. This is a senior leadership role for a seasoned SLED seller who will own the Western Region footprint: State Agencies, Local/City/County Governments, and Higher Education institutions.
As the face of Egen in California, you will serve as a trusted advisor to C-level and executive stakeholders, navigating complex procurement environments while leveraging our expanding Google Cloud partnership to deliver modernization outcomes. You will drive new logo acquisition and revenue growth by combining deep agency relationships with pre-built accelerators in cloud, data, AI (including Gemini for Government), and other cloud and AI platform solutions.
This role is designed for professionals like you who have successfully built and grown multi-million-dollar public sector portfolios in California - think large-scale modernization programs, executive relationship management, and consistent delivery against bookings and P&L targets.
Responsibilities:
- Pipeline & Sales Execution: Own the full sales lifecycle end-to-end - from opportunity qualification to closing complex deals within California State, Local, and HigherEd accounts.
- Account Strategy & P&L Ownership: Develop and execute strategic account plans with full P&L responsibility; deliver against individual and team bookings/revenue targets while expanding existing relationships.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain multi-level C-suite, VP, and Director relationships across California agencies and institutions, becoming the primary strategic advisor on cloud and AI modernization.
- Google & Platform Partnership: Deepen Egen’s position as a top Google Public Sector partner by collaborating with Google Cloud and Salesforce teams on go-to-market plays, co-selling opportunities, lead generation, and mutual success plans.
- Solution Development: Partner with delivery teams to scope projects and draft Statements of Work that solve real public sector challenges using Egen’s assets and accelerators.
- Marketing & Brand Impact: Collaborate with marketing on regional campaigns (e.g., Gemini for Government) and develop client success stories that highlight Egen’s growing influence in California public sector modernization.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 6+ years of technology services sales experience with a proven track record selling into State and Local government agencies.
- Strong technical literacy in cloud adoption lifecycles, data architecture, and analytics.
- Deep SLED expertise, including government procurement processes and agency-specific needs (Health & Human Services, Department of Transportation, Department of Labor, Infrastructure/Public Works, and/or HigherEd with R1/R2 research platforms).
- Demonstrated ability to establish credibility quickly with both IT leadership and business decision-makers.
- Willingness to travel within the region for client engagements as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with California procurement vehicles and agencies (Department of Industrial Relations / DIR, Health & Human Services, CalTrans).
- Background in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment (GSI or boutique consulting experience highly valued).
- Appetite for learning and positioning cutting-edge AI solutions.
- Proficiency using Google Cloud tools for forecasting and financial-based selling.
Why This Role at This Time
California is a priority market for Egen. Our growing Google Public Sector partnership is opening doors that larger firms cannot match with the same speed and agility. If you have already built significant revenue portfolios in California public sector (like the $20M+ managed books many of our strongest candidates bring), this is your opportunity to step into a Director-level role with clear upward mobility, while joining a company that is scaling its platform partnerships and rewarding senior rainmakers.
This role is open to candidates located in the United States who do not need sponsorship of a work visa and are ideally located in the Pacific time zone. Remote work is available, but the role requires significant client-facing travel within the region as required by client engagements.
