
Manufacturing Supervisor, Form Design and Fabrication
Job Description
- Support the operations team by providing forms and molds on time for scheduled production. Set priorities for team based on schedule requirement
- Ensure best practices and processes are being followed for traceability and quality.
- Support root cause analysis and implement needed solutions or preventive actions.
- Evaluate internally and externally fabricated forms using engineering measurement tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Prepare specifications for bidding and purchasing of equipment, materials, supplies, and services as needed to support functional area.
- Identify and recommend preventive maintenance procedures and spare parts requirements on new equipment.
- Coordinate outside contractors, as needed, to complete any assigned projects.
- Troubleshoot and identify issues with equipment in the form making area. Make simple repairs, when necessary.
- Maintain inventory for forms.
- Provide training and instruction to operations team and other Allied employees on new equipment, safety, and other topics.
- Maintain excellent lines of communication with Maintenance, Production, other Allied departments, and our affiliates.
- Support design of molds based on engineering drawings for the casting of refractory materials.
- Support production of accurate mechanical drawings for layout, assembly, and fabrication of forms and molds.
- Support potential new technologies and how to implement in production
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, other similar technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least five years of related work experience and significant prior carpentry or fabrication skills preferred.
- Previous supervision experience required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and human relations skills required.
- Requires excellent spatial reasoning and a practical approach to problem solving.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles required.
- Ability to use a computer for CAD and other tasks.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
- Additional skills useful to this position include knowledge of CNC machinery, woodshop fabrication tools, and engineering GD&T.
- The job can be in a dusty environment.
- Production floor is in a non-temperature-controlled building.
- Required to wear respirator (when needed), safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
