Veterinary Assistant – Shirlington Animal Hospital

Location: Arlington, VA
Pay: $18.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experience
Must be available to work every other Saturday

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys working closely with patients and clients, and is passionate about veterinary medicine.

What You'll Do

• Support veterinarians and technicians during patient exams and treatments
• Safely restrain and handle patients while ensuring their comfort and well-being
• Prepare and administer vaccines as directed
• Collect, prepare, and process laboratory samples for both in-house diagnostics and reference laboratories
• Maintain clean, organized exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment
• Accurately document patient information and medical records
• Assist with client communication, education, and follow-up care
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented hospital culture

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical setting
• Knowledge of animal handling and patient care techniques
• Experience with blood draws, sample collection, and other technical skills is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Avimark practice management software is a plus
• Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities
• Dependable, professional, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Availability to work every other Saturday is required
