Job Description

The College of Media at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants to fill one or more Adjunct Faculty positions. These positions are non-tenure track and will be between 0 to 49% time, depending on department needs. Successful applicants will become part of the College’s adjunct pool, which means that they are eligible to be hired to teach assigned courses in the fall or spring semesters. Not all individuals in the pool will be hired to teach in a given semester. Departments will reach out on a semester-by-semester basis contingent on teaching needs. General Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses for the Department of Advertising, the Department of Journalism, or the Department of Media Cinema Studies in one or more instructional modalities (on campus, online, or hybrid), mentoring and overseeing Graduate Teaching Assistants (if relevant), and meeting with instructors of other sections when appropriate. Teaching responsibilities include course preparation, instruction, grading and student support. Teaching Areas: Adjunct Instructors may be assigned to teach courses related to sports media, digital storytelling, social media, consumer insights, film criticism, news editing and reporting, portfolios, advertising technology, film TV, public relations, branding, global advertising, interactive media and gaming, and media entrepreneurship to first-year students through seniors. The successful candidates will demonstrate a track record of excellence in teaching and/or significant professional experience in the content area.
