What’s The Role
The IT Specialist - Intern is primarily responsible, under supervision, for meeting the onsite IT-related technical support and maintenance requirements for the company. In this regard, the job holder will be required to perform the operational tasks and duties required to maintain and support the company’s computers, mobile / tablet devices, printers, and desk phones, amongst others. In addition, support of technology such as footfall counters, queue trackers, bill payment kiosks, etc. in the company’s retail outlets will also be required. The job holder may be called upon to assist other IT departments such as IT Infrastructure or Networks where such assistance is required. This support may involve but not be limited to providing server administration, disaster recovery, backup administration, and virtualization administration. The job holder may also be required to perform other IT-related functions that are specific to the business unit in which they reside.
What You'll Do
- Provides onsite support for all company-owned and user-operated IT equipment such as but not limited to desktop and laptop computers.
- Provides IT support to local market projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Ensures that the company’s standard IT ticketing system is used to track any assigned IT support requests or incidents.
- Provides onsite support for all local IT infrastructure hardware as designated by the supervisor and under the guidance of the IT infrastructure team.
- Ensures that all local IT infrastructure is registered in the central repository tool administered by the IT Infrastructure Team and that this information is kept up-to-date on a regular basis.
- Ensures corporate IT standards are maintained and followed.
- Complies with change management policies, including completion of maintenance operations procedures as necessary.
- Ensures all IT-related user-impacting production system outages are documented and submitted in a timely manner to the supervisor.
- Contributes to local market disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Ensures system documentation is current and readily accessible via the online documentation portal.
- Proactively informs supervisor of any observed issues that negatively impact or could impact any aspect of the company’s IT-related systems and services.
- Performs other related duties as assigned/approved by immediate supervisor and/or IT manager/IT Director
