You’ll Modernize Legacy Data
  • Lead migration efforts from legacy or non-traditional data sources into structured, scalable, and maintainable database environments.
  • You’ll Optimize for Performance
  • Improve system responsiveness and reliability through query optimization, indexing strategies, performance tuning, and database best practices.
  • You’ll Shape Secure Data Access
  • Establish and maintain standards for secure, efficient, and reliable access to critical data.

A Day in the Life
  • Administer, design, and maintain relational database environments supporting operational and mission systems.
  • Develop and optimize scalable database schemas, tables, indexes, stored procedures, and queries.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure data integrity, availability, security, and consistency across systems.
  • Lead or support migration of legacy and disparate data sources into structured database environments.
  • Work with non-traditional legacy data sources, including systems such as 4D or similar platforms.
  • Support database modernization efforts involving PostgreSQL, Oracle, and other enterprise database technologies.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, system administrators, and mission stakeholders to support application integration and data access needs.
  • Implement database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Establish and document database standards, access controls, naming conventions, and maintenance procedures.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for database-related issues across development, test, and production environments.
  • Maintain awareness of document database technologies, including MongoDB, where appropriate for system requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 15 years of progressive experience in similar roles.
  • Experience administering and maintaining enterprise database environments.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle.
  • Experience with data modeling, schema design, and database normalization.
  • Experience with query optimization, indexing, and database performance tuning.
  • Experience supporting database migrations from legacy, disparate, or non-traditional data sources.
  • Understanding of database security, access control, backup, recovery, and data integrity best practices.
  • Ability to work with technical teams and stakeholders to support reliable data access across systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with both PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments.
  • Familiarity with legacy platforms such as 4D or other non-traditional data sources.
  • Familiarity with document databases such as MongoDB.
  • Experience supporting cloud, hybrid, or containerized application environments.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or other federal mission systems.
  • Active U.S. Security Clearance preferred.
