- You’ll Own the Data Environment
- Take responsibility for the structure, performance, reliability, and integrity of database systems that support mission-critical applications.
- Lead migration efforts from legacy or non-traditional data sources into structured, scalable, and maintainable database environments.
- You’ll Optimize for Performance
- Improve system responsiveness and reliability through query optimization, indexing strategies, performance tuning, and database best practices.
- You’ll Shape Secure Data Access
- Establish and maintain standards for secure, efficient, and reliable access to critical data.
- Administer, design, and maintain relational database environments supporting operational and mission systems.
- Develop and optimize scalable database schemas, tables, indexes, stored procedures, and queries.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure data integrity, availability, security, and consistency across systems.
- Lead or support migration of legacy and disparate data sources into structured database environments.
- Work with non-traditional legacy data sources, including systems such as 4D or similar platforms.
- Support database modernization efforts involving PostgreSQL, Oracle, and other enterprise database technologies.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, system administrators, and mission stakeholders to support application integration and data access needs.
- Implement database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery practices.
- Establish and document database standards, access controls, naming conventions, and maintenance procedures.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for database-related issues across development, test, and production environments.
- Maintain awareness of document database technologies, including MongoDB, where appropriate for system requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 15 years of progressive experience in similar roles.
- Experience administering and maintaining enterprise database environments.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle.
- Experience with data modeling, schema design, and database normalization.
- Experience with query optimization, indexing, and database performance tuning.
- Experience supporting database migrations from legacy, disparate, or non-traditional data sources.
- Understanding of database security, access control, backup, recovery, and data integrity best practices.
- Ability to work with technical teams and stakeholders to support reliable data access across systems.
- Experience with both PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments.
- Familiarity with legacy platforms such as 4D or other non-traditional data sources.
- Familiarity with document databases such as MongoDB.
- Experience supporting cloud, hybrid, or containerized application environments.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or other federal mission systems.
- Active U.S. Security Clearance preferred.
- Database systems are reliable, secure, performant, and well-maintained.
- Legacy data sources are successfully migrated into structured and scalable database environments.
- Data access is efficient, controlled, and aligned with mission and application requirements.
- Engineering teams can depend on accurate, available, and well-structured data.
- Database standards and best practices are documented and consistently applied.
Pay Range: $125,000 - $165,000 per year
