Position Overview:
Transload Operators Laborer will service the PBF refinery by safely loading and unloading hazardous materials from railcars.
Responsibilities / Job Duties:
Load and unload hazardous chemicals and petroleum products into and out of railcars. Responsibilities include railcar inspection, communicate with refinery personnel, connect/monitor hoses, valves, and other loading appliances, follow developed procedures, and assist with spotting and re-spotting of rail cars.
Steam railcars in preparation for unloading heavy crude oils
Work as a team to position the rail cars for unloading, acting as a switch operator, grounds person or locomotive operator, where applicable.
May act as a control room operator who monitors pumps, volume throughput, product levels, temperatures, and responds to alarms
General Maintenance, including but not limited to cleaning, housekeeping, minor railcar repair, such as replacing gaskets/safety chains, and other maintenance activities
Communicate with dispatch on railcar orders and needed movements in and around loading/unloading racks.
Work with refinery board operators on requested product orders for the day, ensuring product supply is available, and it matches up with destination capacity
Complete paperwork accurately
Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications:
A sound understanding or aptitude to learn the transloading of liquid hazardous materials
Understands, or is willing and able to learn, safe railroad operations
Basic computer skills: data entry, email, review reports
Must pass a pre-employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, motor-vehicle report, and criminal background check
Must possess or qualify for a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card)
Must be able to attend and pass all test associated with job related coursework. This includes, but it not limited to: OSHA, HazMat and FRA related courses
Able to reliably fulfill a set rotational schedule (days, nights, 24/7/365).
